Uday Mandal is the National President of Samata Party & Youth leader in Bihar Politics. He born in a middle class family in Madhubani district of Bihar. Uday Mandal stepped into the world of politics in 2020. In 2020, Uday Mandal was appointed as the Bihar State President of the Samata Party at a time when the party was nearly inactive. Uday Mandal came into national focus in 2022 after taking on Uddhav Thackeray in a legal battle concerning the “Flaming Torch” election symbol allotted to Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray). At that time, a major political dispute had erupted within Shiv Sena between Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray over control of the party and its election symbol. However, after the Samata Party, through its President Uday Mandal, challenged the decision of the Election Commission of India before the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi by filing Writ Petition (Civil) No. 14830 of 2022 titled SAMATA PARTY THROUGH SHRI UDAY MANDAL ITS PRESIDENT VS ELECTION COMMISSION OF INDIA on 15.10.2022, the controversy was no longer confined to a dispute between Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray alone. The matter effectively turned into a triangular contest involving the Samata Party as well, bringing Uday Mandal and the party into the centre of a nationally discussed political and legal controversy.
In the leadership of Mr. Mandal total 79 candidates contested and secured 1,21,504 party votes up to May 2026. 65 candidates contested and secured 1,08,491 party from March 2024 - May 2026.
Uday Mandal is the youngest political party President in Bihar like Tejaswi Yadav, Chirag Paswan & Mukesh Sahani. Uday Mandal have grabbed the centre stage in Bihar, signalling the decline of old heavyweights and advent of a new brand of politics. Bihar’s young leaders get ready for rigours of state politics.
The Samata Party is a political party in India, initially formed in 1994 by Former Defense & Railway Minister of Late Shri George Fernandes & Nitish Kumar, now it is led by Uday Mandal its National President. Samata Party first time launched Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister of Bihar in 2000. It split from Janata Dal. The Samata Party was never merged into JD(U) and continued to function as an independent political party. The party has remained active in public life and has been contesting elections separately under its own name and constitution. The Samata Party was earlier recognised as a National Party and, although it later lost that recognition, it has continued to function as a mainstream political party with members and organisational presence across different parts of the country. In 2004, the Member of Parliament from Munger Lok Sabha constituency became the President of the Samata Party, after which the organisational and political activities of the party continued under its separate political identity.
